Release:

  • Mg SR2 is fully done and we shipped with a known regression
  • Sodium SR4 has release candidate but lots of CSIT failures because of several reasons (aborted infra, python2→3 migration failures in SFC, netconf might have a regression)
  • Aluminium is locked so if we can get all work done and merged we can start thinking about taking a release candidate
    • still a lot of open patches though, with most in netvirt
    • we need to look at CSIT issues to make sure no more regressions or blockers there
    • release checklist is here
  • Silicon is now master and we need a schedule to have the TSC approved
  • Anil Shashikumar Belur brings up an issue where we lock a branch on code freeze, but some blocker bug that requires an MRI bump then we have
to grant super committer rights which means the branch is unlocked but only with super committer permissions. Now, when super committers
remove their rights again, the branch will stay open unless the release engineer knows that they should lock the branch again.

Infra:

  • Jobs are still aborting and Vexxhost thinks it was a problem with the images and we have been updating images, but that does
not seem to be working. The aborts (because instances are not reachable) are not happening on every job
    • Anil Shashikumar Belur has opened a support ticket with Vexxhost
    • Thanh Ha notices that builder VMs are taking a very long time (10m) to come up
    • This issue has been going on for over a week
  • A lot of patches were recently merged to update a lot of our infra images
    • be wary if jobs are failing in a weird way that maybe some new image issue is there

Docs:

...

  • Aluminium .  is Aluminium code freeze
    • last 6 autorelease has all failed
      • acutally, the last autorelease passed the build, but some signing cert failure makes the jenkins job mark as aborted
        • Thanh Ha will open a ticket with LF to get the signing cert fixed
    • 2 blocker bugs
    • 2 bugs on INTTEST project that we can hopefully fix before the release
  • Sodium SR4 is hopefully on track for the end of August  for SR4 release SR4 checklist
    • looks like the last 3 failing jobs might be intermittent failures and not regressions. JamO Luhrsenwill double check today and if all is well, we can release SR4 this week
  • Silicon release started
    • the vote for the schedule has passed
  • Magnesium SR2 is out and docs are updated. SR3 will be next and the final Mg release in mid-November

Infra:

  • Last week our CSIT jobs were failing because of some missing certificate. That was fixed last week, but now we realize that
our autorelease jobs are failing for a similar issue. A new ticket is now open.
    • our tooling was not notifying us that the jobs were failing because the real work (the build) was just fine. This was
      yet another infra issue.

Docs:

  • some recent docs patches were abandoned, but we might restore those and see if we can finish

Misc:

  • netvirt jobs have some new python dependency failures that Srinivas Rachakondais working on. but stacking is failing
